Ribbons and Awards
Ribbons:
All Stingray swimmers who finish an event (either individual or relay) in one of the top twelve places at a Dual or Tri meet are awarded a ribbon for that finish by the Stingray Team.
Super Swimmer Ribbons:
"Super Swimmer" ribbons are only for Stingray swimmers ages 10 & under. They are awarded by the Stingray Team for swims at a Dual or Tri meet if the swimmer finishes an event (either individual or relay) no better than thirteenth place, or if the swimmer is disqualified for a stroke infraction. Swimmers age 11 and older are NOT eligible for Super Swimmer ribbons.
Speeding Tickets:
Only Stingray swimmers ages 12 & under receive Speeding Tickets. They are awarded by the Stingray Team if a Stingray swims a "best time" (for the season; year-to-year improvements do not count) in an individual event at a Dual or Tri meet. Speeding Tickets are not awarded for relay swims. Swimmers age 13 and older are NOT eligible to receive Speeding Tickets.
Prelims and Finals:
The RMSL (not the Stingray Team) issues awards to swimmers for finishing in one of the top sixteen places at Finals. There are no awards issued by either the Stingrays or the RMSL for Prelim swims. Speeding Tickets and Super Swimmer ribbons are not issued for Prelims or Finals.
End-of-Season Awards:
At the end-of-season Awards Banquet the Stingray Team gives all swimmers (including Mini Rays!) an end-of-season award. The coaches also issue a limited number of "special awards" to some swimmers. Those swimmers receiving special awards (such as an age group High Point award) do not receive the general end-of-season award.
